My Mom’s $700 Free Money: Find Your Unclaimed Assets With a Simple Search

I have a pet peeve about Oprah and her TV show: I absolutely despise the audience! I hate it when the camera focuses on the audience drinking in every word that flows from the “big O” as absolute. “Oprah said it, so it must be true!” Right? I hate when they laugh at her jokes or tear during a tender moment. Worst of all, I cannot bear it when they stand up, applaud, get excited, nod their heads (like they know what they’re nodding about), and praise their apparent god, Oprah Winfrey!
But there is one thing I cannot deny from Oprah. She always brings something new, fresh, and useful to the table. My sister was watching Oprah’s TV show one afternoon and the episode featured a company called FoundMoney.com. The guest discussed with Oprah how “THOUSANDS OF NORTH AMERICANS have UNCLAIMED CASH – and they don’t know about it!”
Unclaimed Property
Unclaimed cash? That sounds to good to be true, right? Apparently, these assets are from uncashed checks, untapped court settlements, bill overpayments, negative balances, unknown inheritances, lost rebates, etc. Basically, anything that was entitled to you that you didn’t take advantage would most likely be in the databases of unclaimed money. Companies and government bodies cannot just absorb what you didn’t get. Its just not theirs. These balances must sit in a limbo indefinitely until the beneficiaries or their heirs file a claim.
FoundMoney is one of the top leaders in keeping track of these databases. It allows you to search by first and last name to preview what may be available. The company only asks for $20 per every 3 detailed searches if you want more information on how to obtain the assets. For surety, FoundMoney offers a money-back guarantee if the results do not match you or the person you are looking for.
It Worked … at Least for Us
As a dutiful fan and follower of Oprah, my sister checked out the Found Money website and performed a search under our last name. To her surprise, she found unclaimed assets for our relatives and, more importantly, some unclaimed money for our mom. The website revealed that she did not cash in a $700 paycheck from the 1980s. After a couple of phone calls and forms, our family was $700 richer minus the $20 fee. I admit, I was skeptical at first but the proof is in the check.
Cheaper Route
Since then, I’ve performed money searches for a handful of friends and family. One thing that I’ve noticed is that most of the unclaimed assets are recorded in each state’s unclaimed property department. In Texas, it is the Comptroller of Accounts. Their databases are just as easy to use as Found Money. Best of all, unclaimed property searches from the state department are free. So, check every unclaimed property department in every state that you’ve ever lived before coughing up $20.
Read the frequently asked questions on FoundMoney.com and see if you or someone you love is entitled to unclaimed assets. It’s really worth it, considering you may have hundreds of dollars swirling around in unclaimed property limbo. Comment on your results!
