Important Free 411 Information Phone Numbers for Your Cell Phone

There are many times when I’m out and about that I think that I could really use my laptop and Internet access at that very moment. Like, what’s the phone number to the wonderful India Palace restaurant. What time does the Wal-Mart Tire and Lube close? And can I get this item cheaper online? Don’t get me wrong, I could just buy a wireless capable PDA. But, I don’t really want to spend that much money on the equipment and the service. I mean, WiMAX – let alone WiFi – is not omnipresent yet. It’s not like Visa “everywhere you want to be.”
You say, when I need a phone number I should just look in the phone book. Phone books are so archaic 1980s! Hello? We have the Internet now! Plus, who wants to walk in a place of business and ask for it? You might as well ask for directions to the place as well!
Fortunately, I found this article from MyMoneyBlog on important numbers to keep in your cell phone. Everyone has a cell phone. If you don’t, well … the numbers are toll free so that you can use a pay-phone at no charge!
411 Directory Assistance
For those in need of a phone number, the following are free directory assistance provider numbers:
- 1-800-FREE-411 – They can even text you all the information so that you don’t have to write it down or memorize it on the road.
- 1-800-GOOG-411 – (Surprise) Google even offers a free 411 service. Though I hear that the playing/recording quality is not that great and you can’t actually speak to a real live person.
- 1-800-555-TELL – TellMe gives you more comprehensive 411 information. Unlike the other two providers listed above, this service provides more than just business phone numbers. You can get movie show times, sports stats, directions, and stock market quotes. It’s like a little Yahoo! landing homepage on the phone.
Online Price Comparison
Have you ever walked around the store and seen an item on display at the end shelves that caught your eye? A Dyson vacuum for $400? What a steal! Trust me, you can do better online. That’s where FruCall comes into play. With FruCall, you can punch in the UPC bar code and it will do a quick online comparison search with shipping charges already included! Try 1-888-DO-FRUCALL!
You never know when you’ll need these numbers! It’s good to have them just in case. Avoid those $1+ fees for “premium” cell phone services and save these numbers to your contact list.
