With Christmas approaching, people are franticly searching for gifts to give to their loved ones. A quick look at eBay and Amazon reveals what’s hot for the holidays. There’s no doubt that electronics are at the top of many people’s wish list. Personally, the electronic that I would like to recieve is a laptop. But…I’m sure nobody is planning to get me that. I can settle for something cheaper like a digital camera. I could really use one in my eBay business. Reguardless, it’s a pain to borrow a someone’s digital camera, use my webcam, or use my scanner to display my auction items.

But whether I’m buying a digital camera or someone else is buying it for me, like most electronics, it is difficult to find a decent camera and be sure that you’re getting the most bang for your buck. Luckily, I came across a helpful site from TechTV’s The Screen Savers (both of which have been discontinued by the evil G4TV.com and Comcast). The site is called Imaging Resource. It features comprehensive digital camera reviews for just about ever model ever released by the major (and not so major) manufacturers. These reviews were written by a man named Dave Etchells, who is a professional photographer. When I found out about this site, I wanted to see how extensive were his reviews. So, I looked for my parent’s digital camera to read what Etchells said about it. Boy, was I impressed!

For every digital camera review, I could

In actual unbiased reviews, he includes various sections like

These are just the basic element of each review. Many times, he includes more information. Clearly, Etchells is knowledable about what he does.

To find these digital camera reviews, you can either search or browse by manufactuer or by megapixel. There is even an option that allows you to compare the complete specifications of two different selected models.

Etchells also includes online photography tutorials. The tutorials are divided up into “Photo Lessons,” “Getting Started,”
Better Pictures” and “How To.” I, myself, have personally used some of these tutorials (for better ways to take eBay pictures) and found them to be extreamely helpful. Dave does his homework!

But, there are two sections that I am very enthusiastic about. They are “Dave’s Picks” and “Find the Best Camera For You.” “Find the Best Camera For You” is a step-by-step tool that lets you input what is important to you in a digital camera like price, zoom, etc. It takes your survey and suggests a digital camera based on your inputs.

“Dave’s Picks,” on the other hand, features cameras that he particularly likes. Of course, different cameras are designed for different applications. I mean, soccer moms do not need a full fledged professional SLR digital camera! So he groups his professional picks into different helpful categories.

Impressed yet? Whether you are or you aren’t, you need to see the site to know what I’m talking about. Visit the Imaging Resource!
